How to connect Ledger Live to DApps via WalletConnect?

The entire process of securing the connection to DApps through WalletConnect is simple. But, then to make it further convenient for you, we have broken the method into small steps.

Here we go!

Step 1: Navigate to the DApp to which you want to get connected

Step 2: On the page of the app, there is an option anywhere labeled “Connect to a wallet”. Click on that option and a list of wallet names appear on the screen for you.

Step 3: Amid the shown wallets, you should obviously go for WalletConnect. As soon as you choose the wallet, another screen with a QR code shows up.

Step 4: At the bottom of the code, an option “Copy to Clipboard” becomes visible. Click on it to copy successfully. After copying this code, don’t copy any other thing on the same computer

Step 5: Open another tab and from there open Ledger Live entering your password

Step 6: Navigate to the account page of Ethereum. As you reach the page, locate the Manager option that must be on the upper right-side of the page

Step 7: Hit the Manager option. You are now given 3 options - Send, Receive and Wallet Connect, right? Choose Wallet Connect.

Step 8: After hitting the WalletConnect button, a new window of WalletConect opens automatically.

Just in the middle of the page, there is an address box in which you’re expected to paste the copied address.

And, finally hit the Continue button below. A window of confirmation appears.

So, you’re done here! It’s time to access the DApp from your desktop or computer.

What are the benefits of using WalletConnect with Ledger Live?

We recommend you to use WalletConnect with Ledger Live to get access to DApps for the following reasons:

Platform agnostic

It doesn’t matter what the type of dapp is that you are trying to access: desktop, gaming, mobile or browser, you will never be disheartened.

More interestingly, the protocol is compatible with all the signing methods required by your dapp.

Decentralized messaging system

With the Waku network, the protocol lets you not be dependent on centralized servers for the relaying of messages.

1-time pairing

The protocol allows you to establish as many sessions as required without requiring you to set multiple pairings. Instead, only one pairing is enough to meet your purpose.

Again, there will be no issue for you because of multiple sessions at a time. The API provided is sufficiently flexible.

No chain switching

Lets you get connected to a particular wallet using one or more chains at a time and send transactions to multiple chains simultaneously. And, you can do all of these without switching between chains.

Final words

To sum up, WalletConnect offers you the best ever user experience when it comes to accessing the DApps. However, we’re not saying that you shouldn’t try any other protocol and that shouldn’t be our motto as well. You can always try to do something different; who knows you won’t be more comfortable with that?
